Little is known of Reanimator. There are few stories to tell because survivors of an encounter with Reanimator are a rarity. Reports indicate that Reanimator seems to be a vast horde of robots and the deceased all under the control of some unknown force. A Reanimator drone is characterized solely by the bright green energy that courses through their body and shows most prominently via the eyes. And where there's one, there's bound to be dozens more lurking nearby. What Reanimator wants, if anything, isn't clear. The attacks end just as quickly as they began and the bodies of the dead are never left behind. Such swift and coordinated attacks suggest a centralized intelligence behind the horde. This remains unconfirmed. -- -- -- I'm not going to put much here yet besides the "lore" behind Reanimator since a lot of the specifics aren't set. Though I will say that Reanimator was originally designed to control machines, and the technology has been augmented to allow the same control over organic hosts. The story may hint at Reanimator's existence from time to time early on, but it won't make a definite appearance until later in the tale. Post any ideas or questions you may have while I take the time to sort out the specifics. Your input may very well speed up the process, lol.

Right, so I've got a little more Reanimator info for you.
Reanimator also emerged from the Veil, but it isn't FROM the Veil. It was launched into it the Veil centuries ago in the hopes that it would never return.
Reanimator was originally a Hubnester (subsystem of Overworld) in which the rogue AI S.T.E.V.E. was sealed. Since Overworld is indestructible, STEVE had to be disposed of in the next best way possible.
The specifics of STEVE and Overworld and how they connect to Reanimator will be discussed in separate threads. The rest of this thread will most likely be devoted to the abilities of Reanimator and how those abilities work.

Revised info comin atcha!
Reanimator, originally named R-17, was a robot created to be a subservient "key" to a rogue elder aboard Overworld. It was to be his way of keeping control of the vast machine world out of the hands of his rivals. When Overworld, as well as the elders, were forced into a state of dormancy/cryosleep, R-17 was sealed within as well and separated from the will of its master. Having countless years to itself, it wandered the empty, corpse filled corridors of the vessel without purpose. It often found itself staring at the lifeless forms of those that had fallen as a result of the skirmishes between the elders. It could have been described as curiosity if R-17 had been programmed to feel such things.
But one day something changed. Something called to R-17. A whisper in the darkness.
The Orb that rested at the core of Overworld spoke to R-17. What it said, only R-17 knows. The interaction changed the pitiful machine. It's systems were rewritten entirely, a wild current of bright green energy surged through its conduits and, finally, it was given the greatest gift of all. R-17 could think.
Free from its dormant master and limited programming, the new and improved R-17 scoured Overworld once more with its brand new perspective and discovered a great many things. Most dealing with how to control a large majority of Overworld's subsystems. If it were active, R-17 could pilot it.
It didn't take long for R-17's attention to shift back to the dead amongst the ship. It felt drawn to them. Like they too were calling out to it. Approaching one and examining it, R-17 realized it could detect something within. Some mixture of lingering energies. As R-17 focused on these energies, it could feel them gathering. Suddenly, the energy shifted again and burst forth from the corpse in the form of a bright green sphere that hovered silently in front of R-17. Slowly, R-17 reached out towards the sphere and the instant it touched it's cold, steel hand, the sphere jumped into R-17. Startled, it performed a systems check. Everything was nominal.
But R-17 could hear a faint voice... from inside itself. One that was not its own. And memories that were not it's own. It felt stronger.
R-17 had absorbed its first soul. But it craved more. Much more.
Reanimator is born.
